Best Lenses for Canon T6i
Now, let’s talk about Canon Rebel T6i lenses.
When it comes to glass, there’s a bunch of options you can choose from. And in choosing one, you have to keep in mind that there are different types of lenses for different photography genres.
I have a separate article on the best EF and EF-S lenses for Canon cameras but here are some great options for T6i Rebel per category:
Prime Lens:
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM
This is great for any type of photography, but most especially portraiture, low light photography and weddings.
It has large aperture, which makes it capture as much light as possible. This makes it easier for beginners to shoot easily.
Sigma 30mm f/1.4
This is another good option for Rebel T6i. It also performs well under low light conditions, so photographing night scenes will be a lot better with it.
Wide Angle Lens:
Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM
If you are fond of doing landscape photography, then this might be the best lens to pair up with your Canon Rebel T6i.
It has excellent zoom capabilities allowing you to take better pictures of the beautiful sceneries around you.
Plus, it has Stepper Motor technology, Canon’s very own innovation responsible for quieter focus system. This is very helpful when taking videos.
Telephoto Lens:
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM
This is a telephoto lens. It’s perfect if you want to photograph sports events, and even wildlife.
It has amazing zoom capabilities that allow you to stay at a safe distance from your subjects while still being able to capture them clearly on your camera.
Also, this glass has aperture built for outdoor setting, so it will make your photos a whole lot better than other lenses (for wildlife and sports photography).
The only downside is that it is only best for stationary subjects, but for starters, this is not so much of a problem.
Macro Lens:
Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM
This one is quite special.
It’s great for photographing subjects at a close-up range. Sample subjects could be flowers, bugs, products, and other things that needs to be seen up close.
This kind of glass produces sharp photos even if you position your camera extremely near the subject (cause this is what it’s made for).
In fact when you use this type of lens, photographing at a distance would be hard. You’ll only have blurry photos in the end.

Canon T6i Scene Modes & Creative Filters
105.0mm · ƒ/4.0 · 1/100s · ISO 100
Here’s the thing:
When amateur photographers buy their first DSLR, they are usually full of enthusiasm. Finally, after a point-and-shoot camera, you can play with the settings!
But in practice, preset Auto modes are used much more often than manual input of parameters.
Let’s agree that it’s much more interesting to concentrate on building a frame and strive to have time to take a shot of the elusive scene.
What do the developers of Canon EOS 750D offer in this regard?
In addition to the usual Scene modes like portraits, landscapes and sports, in this camera model there are also:
- Candlelight,
- Night Portrait,
- Handheld Night Scene,
- Kids,
- Food and
- HDR Backlight Control.
Besides the common Scene modes, there are also creative filter features such as:
- Grainy B/W
- Soft focus
- Art bold effect
- Water painting effect
- Toy camera effect
- Miniature effect
You can transform an image into an art work with the water painting effect, apply the “fish eye” effect, create a miniature effect, or use the toy camera effect as if it were shooting tiny cities with tiny people in it.
Canon’s official site support section will help you understand more about creative filters.
There are also special modes of video shooting, which are amazing during your travels, while on a holiday, or when working on a reportage.
And by the way, photo processing can be performed directly on Canon EOS T6i, without using the “Photoshop” program.
So, yes, there is definitely to play with the camera settings!
Specs compared
While both cameras share the same core features, the user experience on the T6s/760D is aimed toward more advanced users. Before we get to those differences, let’s see how the the two new models compare with the Rebel T5i (700D) that is now the low-end model in Canon’s DSLR lineup.

Probably the biggest difference between the T5i and the T6 models is the sensor. It’s no secret that Canon has been using the same (or very similar) 18 Megapixel sensor since the Rebel T2i (EOS 550D). The new 24.2MP sensor catches up with the latest DSLRs from Nikon, Pentax, and Sony, though it remains to be seen if image quality is also competitive.
The other major addition is Wi-Fi with ‘active’ NFC. If you’re using an NFC-equipped phone (iPhone 6’s don’t count) then you can tap it against the camera to pair. If you don’t, it’s not terribly difficult. Once that’s done you can remotely control the camera from your phone, transfer photos, and then share them with friends and family. If you set up Canon’s Image Gateway service you can choose where photos go (and add comments) right on the camera.
The T6s (right) offers several things over the T6i, including an LCD info display, locking mode dial, and quick control dial (not pictured). |

The photo above gives you a quick teaser of the differences between the T6i and T6s – we’ll go into more detail in a moment.
Pricing and availability
The Rebel T6s (760D) is priced at $849/£649/€859 body only and $1199 bundled with an 18-135mm STM lens. The T6i (750D) ships in a body-only kit for $749/£599/€799, with an 18-55mm STM lens for $899/£689/€899, and $1099 with the 18-135mm STM lens.
Accessories included a battery grip (BG-E18), numerous viewfinder knick-knacks, and wired and wireless remotes. Both cameras will be available in April.

Expert reviews
This is where reviews by experts come in. The table below provides a synthesis of the camera assessments of some of the best known photo-gear review sites (amateurphotographer , cameralabs , digitalcameraworld , dpreview , ephotozine , photographyblog ). As can be seen, the professional reviewers agree in many cases on the quality of different cameras, but sometimes their assessments diverge,
reinforcing the earlier point that a camera decision is often a very personal choice.

The above review scores should be interpreted with care, though. The ratings were established in reference to similarly priced cameras that were available in the market at the time of the review. Hence, a score should always be seen in the context of the camera’s market launch date and its price, and comparisons of ratings among very different cameras or across long time periods have little meaning. Also, please note that some of the review sites have changed their methodology and reporting over time.

Canon.
Canon EOS Rebel T6s Review
Sensor & Image Quality:
The Rebel T6s comprises of a 24 megapixel APS-C sensor which is powered by a Digic 6 processor. The increased megapixels will give more detail, but it could also increase the level of noise. But the Rebel T6s does a great job resolving these issues. The ISO ranges from 100-12800 and can be expanded up to 25600. The camera is capable of setting the sensitivity from 100-6400. The movie ISO range is 100- 6400 and can be expanded up to 12800.
Auto Focus System:
The Rebel T6s also has the Hybrid CMOS AF III autofocus system which is used for contrast and phase autofocus when using the live-view option on the camera. The live view and video mode both have servo autofocus capabilities. The continuous autofocus is used to pre-focus images as well as in video mode. It also includes a 19 point phase AF system. When the viewfinder is being used, the AF system creates the images in it. The AF system can be chosen by the camera itself out of 19 points, or can be manually set using single point or Zone AF modes. Zone AF has 5 groups of points to choose from, and the single point lets us chose from all 19 point individually.
Lens:
This camera supports a Canon EF/EF-S lens mount. There are about 250 lenses that are capable of supporting this mount. The Canon EOS Rebel T6s is not able to provide image stabilization, but there are about 83 lenses that come with this feature. The Rebel T6s does not come with weather sealing but there are 45 lenses that come with weather sealing.
Shooting Features:
Continuous shooting can be supported up to 5 frames per second. Movies can be shot in full HD at 1920X1080. Movies can be saved in MP4 and H.264 codec modes. The duration of the recording is calculated at 29 minutes and 59 seconds and when this time limit is exceeded or 4GB is exceeded, a new file is created. This camera also has a secondary LCD screen on top of the camera. This shows useful information like exposure level and battery level. This is useful as it consumes less power than the main screen.

Screen and Viewfinder:
The screen is very responsive. The quick and main menus can be controlled by touch and pinch zoom can be used to check the sharpness of the image. The viewfinder has a sensor to detect when the camera is close to the eye. This sensor then automatically turns off the display. The screen is very clear unless it is exposed to very bright conditions. The screen can be used in various angles for creative shooting. Touch shutter feature can be used to focus and release the shutter with a tap on the screen. The viewfinder is also equipped to display the electronic level.
File Storage and Transfer (or Connectivity):
Wi-Fi and NFC can be used to connect the camera with other devices. This can be done in order to transfer images and also control the camera remotely from a smartphone.
Special Features:
The camera has an external microphone port for better audio recordings but does not contain a port for headphones. Another special feature of the camera is that the electronic level which indicates if the horizon is tilted or not. Wi-Fi active mode can be viewed on top LCD plate. The Camera can be remotely controlled by a smartphone via Wi-Fi. Many important camera features can also be controlled remotely.
Dimensions and Weight:
The camera also has a comfortable grip. The EOS Rebel T6s can be easily carried for long periods of time even when lenses are mounted. For an SLR, the Rebel T6s is small.
Nikon D5600
