Электроника подверглась не меньшим изменениям, чем дизайн сервера. Под крышкой теперь два аудиоЦАПа высокого разрешения (24 бит/192 кГц) BurrBrown PCM1792, каждый из которых работает в монорежиме, обрабатывая только один канал стереозвука.
Прецизионный тактовый генератор позволяет сэмплировать аудиопоток с джиттером не более 10 пс. Для двукратной передискретизации аудиосигнала применяется асинхронный конвертер SRC4194 компании Texas Instruments. Для снижения помех применяется фильтр Бесселя второго порядка и ультраскоростные операционные усилители.
Встроенный сверхтихий жесткий диск емкостью 2 ТБ позволяет сохранить в его памяти 6000 дисков качества CD или до 20000 треков 24-битного разрешения (HD). Кроме того, Olive 6HD оборудован пишущим Hi-Fi CD-приводом фирмы TEAC, с помощью которого можно не только воспроизводить CD, но и записывать на CD-R музыкальные композиции форматов CD-Audio и mp3, а также создавать диски с данными (Data CD). Как и прежде, привод CD-дисков не имеет загрузочного лотка — для установки и выемки дисков предназначена щель на передней панели.
Охлаждение электроники пассивное — вентилятор исключен из конструкции для снижения помех.
ДИЗАЙН
Сенсорный цветной ЖК-дисплей (разрешение 800х480 пикселей), которому было ощутимо тесно на передней панели прошлых моделей, у Olive 6HD переместился на крышку. Размеры дисплея существенно увеличились, так что диагональ нового широкоформатного монитора составляет почти 26 см.
Изменилась форма корпуса: передняя панель теперь стала ниже задней, так что верхняя крышка с монитором слегка наклонилась к слушателю. Панель управления, так же как и экран, переехала на верхнюю крышку. Все эти изменения сделали управление сервером гораздо более удобным.
Как и прежде, сервер выпускается в серебристом (анодированный алюминий) или черном корпусе.
КОММУТАЦИЯ
На задней панели сервера находится позолоченная стереопара RCA и балансный XLR-разъем для вывода аналогового аудиосигнала. Для вывода цифрового аудиопотока можно использовать оптический, коаксиальный или балансный AES/EBU интерфейсы. Коаксиальный разъем цифрового звука также позолочен.
Сетевые возможности этого сервера обеспечиваются, во-первых, гигабитным проводным интерфейсом Ethernet и, во-вторых, беспроводным интерфейсом 802.11, который работает на скорости 54 Мбит/с.
Сервер оснащен портом USB 1.1/2.0 для подключения съемных носителей медиаданных, а также интерфейсом HDMI, который предназначен для вывода видеосигнала монитора (480p, 60Hz) на внешнее устройство, например телевизор.
На передней панели теперь расположен только аудиовыход (6.4 мм) для подключения наушников и регулятор громкости звука в тракте головных телефонов. Olive also offers a free iPhone/iPod Touch application that allows users to control the HD Hi-Fi Music Server from anywhere within the home network. Beyond standard music information such as artist, album, track title and cover art, the Olive delivers extended metadata, describing music more accurately and tailored to its specific genre. This allows users to find the right music, quickly.
The Olive 4HD can be integrated into a home network with its Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n connection, which also allows for direct download of music. Adding the Olive 2 Hi-Fi Player allows users to access their music anywhere within their home.

Сервер поддерживает звук с разрешением 16, 20 и 24 бит и частоты сэмплирования от 10 кГц до 200 кГц. Olive 6HD воспроизводит два формата кодирования звука без потерь — WAV и FLAC и два формата компрессированного звука — mp3 (128 и 320 кбит/с) и AAC (128 кбит/с).
С помощью пишущего CD-привода можно записывать аудиофайлы на CD-R, причем одну и ту же композицию можно одновременно и записывать, и воспроизводить.
Интересный оригинальный дизайн. Высокотехнологичные электронные компоненты. Большой ЖК-монитор высокого разрешения (800х480). Встроенный жесткий диск объемом 2ТБ. Выход для подключения наушников. Встроенный адаптер беспроводной сети 802.11.
Существенных недостатков нет.
Conclusion
Sure the Olive Opus 4HD is cool, there is no doubt about that. The case is cool, the functionality is cool, and the DACs are certainly cool. We like that you can use it as an outboard DAC for another digital music source (just one) but wish there was multi-channel support. The connectivity and interface is top notch (as far as we can tell) and our experience with Olive leads us to believe that the product will have a few surprises that will impress us (the Symphony could be used as a wireless access point to other devices). The problem is that for $2k you are getting 2TB of storage and some great DACs. Cool, but nearly everything is streaming these days (HTiBs are coming out now with networking). Do they have the storage or the DACs? No, but if you are streaming from your home or office computer you don’t need the storage and DACs are only used when you are planning on using analogue connectivty through the output of the system. For those that want a beautiful box with all the functionality in one place and more storage than you’ll can imagine for your two-channel collection, the Opus 4HD is it. It’s the last box you’ll need. The question really is: do you need it at all?
