Последние способны просто прикрыть дико выпирающую камеру. Приятное дополнение к смартфону.
У меня же на руках оказались модуль камеры и дополнительный динамик от JBL. Расскажу, что да как.
Встроенная программа Moto Mods поможет с легкостью обращаться с модулями. Они просто крепятся к задней крышке с помощью смарт-коннектора и сразу же готовы к работе. Дополнительных настроек не требуется.
JBL Soundboost Speaker очень хорошо звучит для портативной док-станции. Звук громкий, насыщенный, ничего не фонит и не кряхтит. Басы умеренные, приятные, осязаемые. Высокие и средние частоты не вызывают рвотных рефлексов. Приятный бонус — ножка, на которую ставится док.
Camera Hasselblad True Zoom тоже сумела выделиться. Разрешение 12 МП, размер пикселя — 1,55 мкм. В отличие от встроенной камеры, тут есть и 4-кратный цифровой, и 10-кратный оптический зум. Диафрагма настраиваемая — от f3,5 до f6,5. Ещё и вспышка ксеноновая.
Внешне смартфон превращается в «мыльницу» с отдельной кнопкой спуска затвора, что значительно облегчает привыкание. Доступны три режима съёмки: цветной JPEG, черно-белый JPEG и RAW+JPEG, а также шесть автоматических режимов сцены (авто, спорт, ночной портрет, портрет с фоновым светом, ночной пейзаж и пейзаж).

Достоинства:

Camera Performance — The Xenon flash gives better flash coverage than the standard LED flashlight(s) in a smartphone, and compared to the Moto Z Play, is also much less yellow in colour, giving a more natural and accurate colour reproduction. This helps with group shots, with subjects having better lighting.
Images taken at the wide-angle end of the lens are soft in the corners of the image, and if you open the raw files in Photoshop, you’ll see severe vignetting in the corners. Photos taken at the telephoto end aren’t particularly sharp, but are reasonable.
Macro photos are reasonable, although the camera can struggle to focus as close as you want it to. Switching to the professional mode and selecting macro focus helps here.
Colour reproduction is reasonable, and much more subtle compared to the typical colour output of smartphones. For the photographer, this will probably be appreciated, but for those used to bright punchy images, they may want to boost the colour further. Exposure is generally reliable, although the lack of a built-in HDR mode and lack of highlight and shadow recovery options will make it difficult to get the correct exposure in images with high levels of contrast, unless you want to shoot in the raw mode.

White Balance Performance — Auto White Balance (AWB) performs well under Tungsten and Fluorescent lighting, with there being little need to use the presets available. There is no manual white balance option.
There aren’t any digital filters, although you can choose to shoot in black and white. There is a backlight portrait scene mode, but no HDR mode. There is a panoramic mode, although results were disappointing, and you’re likely to get better results with the smartphone camera, as you can’t use the zoom with this mode.
Video — The camera records full HD video with stereo sound, and optical zoom is available. The frame rate used by the camera seems to change at random, with video recorded at 30fps, another at 29fps, and another at 24fps. Care needs to be taken with using the optical zoom, as strangely optical image stabilisation isn’t available when recording video. Electronic image stabilisation is available when recording video, however when we were recording in low-light, it made the video quite jerky. Low-light performance isn’t particularly good. Video is recorded at 17Mbps, which is low, and video quality from the Moto Z Play is better in low light, thanks to a brigher aperture available. Value For Money
The Hasselblad True Zoom is available for £199 (RRP), which makes it reasonable value for money, although we would expect the price to drop over time. If you factor in the cost of the Moto Z phone, which is needed to use this camera, then the price seems particularly high.
Alternative attachments for your phone include the DXO One (£399, 1inch sensor, iPhone only), Sony Cyber-shot QX10 (£129, 10x optical, smallest), QX30 (£210, 30x zoom), QX100 (was £349, 1inch sensor, 3.6x zoom), QX1 (was £350, APS-C sensor, ILC, flash), and the Kodak PIXPRO SL range (from £135). Although you may find it difficult to find some of these, as it looks like most of the Sony QX range has been discontinued.
Alternatively you could buy a compact camera, with built-in Wi-Fi, and transfer images straight to your phone. Here are two compact cameras that offer similar specifications:

Дизайн и внешний вид
Moto Z Play не может похвастаться интересным дизайном. Внешний вид модели весьма технократичен и прост. С двух сторон аппарат обрамляет стекло Gorilla Glass 3. Корпус смартфона и его компоненты обработаны водоотталкивающей жидкостью. Разработчик заявляет соответствие стандарту IP52. Это означает, что смартфон нельзя топить, но брызги он должен спокойно выдержать.
Что касается размещения отдельных элементов, то почти всю лицевую часть аппарата занимает сенсорный дисплей с диагональю 5,5 дюймов. Над дисплеем расположились: датчики приближения и освещенности, прорезь единого динамика. Динамик обеспечивает достаточную громкость звонков и системных сообщений, его волне хватит для просмотра видео или прослушивания музыки. Звук чистый и хорошо различимый.
Рядом с динамиком можно видеть объектив фронтальной камеры и вспышку. Под экраном имеется квадратная площадка сканера отпечатков, слева от которой есть отверстие микрофона с интегрированным датчиком освещения, реагирующим на жесты ладонью. Отмечу, что сканер не совмещён с кнопкой Home. Все управляющие клавиши у смартфона виртуальные и занимают место на экране.
Защитное стекло Gorilla Glass 3 имеет хорошее по качеству олеофобное покрытие. Пыль и грязь практически незаметны.
Кнопки управления расположились на правой грани, причем чтобы было удобней находить их вслепую, кнопка регулировки громкости гладкая, а включения — с насечками.
В телефоне два микрофона, есть система шумоподавления, которая улучшает качество передачи голоса. Микрофоны располагаются на верхнем торце и на лицевой стороне рядом со сканером отпечатков пальцев. На верхней грани аппарата можно видеть слот для двух SIM-карт размера nanoSIM и карты памяти microSD. C одной стороны лотка вы можете вставить одну или две SIM-карты, с другой стороны – карточку памяти. Это вполне удобно. Разъем USB Type C располагается на нижнем торце. Здесь же имеется 3,5 мм разъём для наушников.
Задняя поверхность Moto Z Play целиком выполнена из закалённого стекла от Corning. В верхней части размещён довольно большой блок камеры 16 Мпикс. По центру — сам объектив, слева от него — лазерный дальномер автофокуса, а снизу — двухтоновая светодиодная вспышка. Область вокруг объектива изготовлена из прочного металла. В случае чего, примет на себя основной удар и защитит объектив.
В нижней части задней панели находится блок магнитных контактов для подключения модулей Moto Mods, плюс чуть ниже расположен третий микрофон.
Moto Z Play доступен в двух цветах — белом и чёрном. Примечательно, что в белой версии боковая грань золотого цвета, в чёрной — серебристого. У меня на тесте была белая версия.
К сборке смартфона вопросов нет. За время двухнедельного тестирования в качестве основного телефона я не обнаружил ни скрипов корпуса, ни зазоров. Единственное, что бросилось в глаза, лоток для сим-карт немного разболтался. В остальном полный порядок.
Photo Comparisons: Not so Hot
I tested the True Zoom, as well as the Droid Z Play, alongside the , our favorite smartphone camera. I also compared it to the DxO One (connected to an iPhone 6s), and the , a mirrorless camera. I shot everything in Auto mode, to see how each camera would adjust to its surroundings.
The first shooting scene featured a portrait of a woman set against a nighttime view of lower Manhattan; this is a fairly tricky setup, as the camera has to make sure the foreground subject is bright enough, without blowing out the background.
Here, the True Zoom performed the worst out of the bunch: the image was the grainiest, it had the least contrast, the woman had a reddish hue, and the lights from the skyscrapers in the background were blown out.

Of the built-in cameras, the S7’s performed the best. Although the woman had a reddish hue, both her and the background were exposed properly, and I could see a great amount of detail in the buildings behind her.

The DxO prioritized the woman, making her skin tones look the closest to real life, but it also blurred the background (the result of the camera using f/1.8) and blew out the buildings.

When I turned on the flash for each camera, the Hasselblad went way overboard, making the background virtually disappear; that’s because the flash was on full blast, with no way to adjust its level.

Still, it was no match for the Galaxy S7, which illuminated everything well.

Pets are some of the more-photographed subjects, and Mervin (foreground) and Walter (background) were surprisingly patient as I shot them under indoor incandescent lighting.

Here, too, the True Zoom failed to impress. While it wasn’t the worst of the bunch, there was a yellowish cast, and I could see a bit of graininess in the white background.

The Droid Z Play’s camera did a slightly better job in some respects, but also overexposed Walter’s white fur.

DxO’s camera here proved to be far and away the best, completely eliminating the yellow color cast, and capturing Mervin in sharp detail. It even outperformed the Galaxy S7 and the Sony A6000, both of which had a yellowish hue.

Next, I photographed a hibiscus flower, to see how well the True Zoom captured colors.
Overall, colors were nice and rich, but there was a bluish cast to the Hasselblad’s image that wasn’t there with other cameras.

The Galaxy S7’s shot also had a slightly cool look, but I also like how it had greater depth of field (a blurrier background) than the Hasselblad’s image.

Lastly, I took some photos inside the new transit hub at the World Trade Center. Here, the Hasselblad True Zoom worked well, accurately capturing the white of the station’s ribs, even if the shot was a bit dark for my tastes.

However, the Droid Z Play’s shot was even greener, making it the least appealing of this set.

The True Zoom lives up to its name in one respect; its optical 10x zoom, which has the equivalent of a 25-250mm zoom, proved excellent. See the guy on the balcony in this shot?

What could be improved
For every positive feature listed above, there’s an aspect that could be improved.
Limited manual control
Manual camera control on the Hasselblad True Zoom mod is still pretty limited. While it’s nice to be able to adjust the ISO, it’s not possible to adjust aperture or shutter speed. It’s a real shame, considering the native f/3.5-5.6 aperture available.
Extra physical features missing
The addition of a physical shutter button and zoom toggle is very welcomed and makes it easier to operate your phone like a true camera. However, two key features are missing.
First is a wrist strap that attaches to either the phone or camera. Considering how expensive the devices are and how bulky they can get, a strap would add a sense of security.
Second is a tripod thread. Since you don’t have full manual control over the camera, many low lighting shots revert to settings with incredibly slow shutter speeds, resulting in blurry images when shot handheld. Also, trying to take advantage of the mod’s 10x zoom feature while also holding the camera steady is incredibly tricky. There are some sample images below that demonstrate these focusing problems. The ability to shoot with a tripod would greatly enhance the resulting images.
Size
It’s impossible to ignore the allure of being able to shoot and carry a Hasselblad camera that fits into your pocket. The only problem is this camera won’t quite fit in your pocket unless you’ve got exceptionally large ones. While the bare Moto Z phone is slim enough to be tucked into most pockets, the camera mod adds just enough bulk to make the device difficult to carry. The carrying case is nice for protecting the mod, but it’s an awkward size that won’t fit into most pockets or purses.
Uncertain future
Moto Mods are a brand new concept for Motorola, a company recently taken over by Lenovo. Thus, the future of the Moto Z phone line and Moto Mods as a whole is pretty uncertain. No one knows if the next generation of Moto Z phones will be compatible with the Hasselblad True Zoom, or if the Moto Z line will continue at all. As a result, this can be a risky investment.

Правда, под углами белый цвет отдаёт легким зеленоватым оттенком. Безусловно, всё зависит от оптимизации, но мне кажется, что компания постаралась над этой задачей.
Диагональ составила 5,5 дюймов, его разрешение — Full HD (1920×1080). Тут так же присутствует олеофобное покрытие, которое позволяет приятно обращаться с экраном, не оставляя заметных отпечатков.
Кроме того, это мультитач-дисплей, поддерживающий до десяти одновременных нажатий. Вряд ли это кому-то пригодится, но такой уж тренд.
Software
As is the case with the other two Moto Z phones, the Z Play features a clean, near-stock build of Android. More specifically, this handset is running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It’s rather a shame this model is running a two-year-old operating system and not Nougat like it’s older siblings, but an expected upgrade to Android 7.0 is currently in the works. Stay tuned.
I won’t dive too far into what the Z Play features software wise as its strikingly similar to what the Z and Z Force feature, but here’s a quick rundown.
- It’s a near-stock experience with just a quick launcher placed on top.
- Not too many customizations are present.
- You get a full suite of Moto-baked functionality thanks to the Moto app which provides Moto Display (ambient display with preview of notifications and current time), double twist to launch the camera, double chop to activate the flashlight, “OK Moto” voice control, and swipe to shrink screen.
- Since this is a Droid handset, you also get a whole folder of bloatware you’ll never touch. (Note that this won’t be present for those who purchase the unlocked model.)
It’s worth noting that the software on the Z Play has been optimized for maximum performance throughout while still remaining extremely power efficient. It’s quite insane how optimized the software really is as although there’s a Snapdragon 625 installed, you can’t tell the difference between the Z Play and standard Z with a Snapdragon 820 performance wise. And yes, with the 3GB of RAM installed, you won’t be able to multitask as efficiently, but it still reflects the performance of the standard Z relatively well.

Аппарат может работать со всеми современными беспроводными сетями. Среди них двухдиапазонный Wi-Fi 802.11 aс/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi Direct, можно организовать беспроводную точку доступа через каналы Wi-Fi или Bluetooth. Присутствует встроенный LTE-модем и NFC. Подключение к компьютеру осуществляется с помощью разъема USB Type C 2.0.
Из дополнительных коммуникационных средств стоит отметить GPS, A-GPS (в смартфон встроена стандартная картография Google Maps). Радиус погрешности навигации во время тестирования около 5 метров, что очень немного. Гаджет неплохо справляется с ролью навигатора.
Moto Hasselblad True Zoom Handling
To use the Hasselblad True Zoom, you simply attach it to the back of the smartphone. The smartphone and Moto Mod attach using magnets, making it easy to attach and detach from the smartphone. There is enough resistance so that the camera doesn’t fall off. The build quality of the Hasselblad True Zoom has divided opinion, due to its clearly plastic construction, however, it’s also worth noting that there are no visible screws, and the main body of the camera feels solid.
The Hasselblad True Zoom makes your previously thin and stylish smartphone suddenly feel bulky and awkward to hold, with the lens section of the camera 18mm thick. However, as a camera, the additional grip (15mm) added by the True Zoom is welcome and the shutter release button makes it feel like you’re using a real camera. The zoom rocker is an easy way to zoom in and out, however it feels a little wobbly, and the speed of zoom is quite fast, with it being difficult to finely set in between zoom positions.
You can hold the shutter release button to start continuous shooting, although continuous shooting is fairly slow, at roughly 1fps. As the camera uses the smartphone’s screen to take photos, it is compatible with other Android apps, including Instagram, VSCO, Adobe Lightroom Mobile, and others.
The menu system is very similar to the camera app that is on the smartphone, and there are a few different options available, including the ability to shoot JPEG and raw (Adobe DNG). In manual mode you can adjust focus, white balance, timer, ISO, and exposure. Once you’re used to the way you use the camera app on the Moto Z Play and True Zoom, it’s quite straight-forward, but not always particularly intuitive if you’re switching from a different smartphone (you press the photo button to change modes).
The photos and videos are stored in the same location as the Moto Z Play’s photos.
A Hasselblad branded case is provided with the camera, so you can keep it safely in your pocket separately to the phone, or you can keep both the True Zoom and phone in this velvet case if you so wished.
Battery life — The Moto Z Play has an impressive battery rating of 3510mAh, which is good for a smartphone, and the Moto Z Play gives good battery life, easily lasting a day. We saw very little battery drain from the use of the Hasselblad True Zoom which should mean that you can get good battery life from them both.
Speed — Focus can be slow at times, particularly in low-light or when using the optical zoom at the telephoto end of the lens. The continuous shooting mode isn’t particularly quick, shooting at 1fps. It’s also quicker starting the camera on the smartphone, without the True Zoom attachment, so if you just want to quickly take a snapshot, it will be quicker to use the smartphone, rather than attach the True Zoom and then wait for that to startup.
The Software
A quick note: my Hasselblad True Zoom has been paired with the , a phone that has yet to be released, and is running pre-release software. When I first got the Mod, it frequently crashed the camera app and overheated the phone, but Motorola released an update to its Moto Mods platform a few days into my testing that considerably improved the True Zoom’s stability.
Using the True Zoom is easy, since it merely subsumes the existing camera experience. It takes advantage of the same simple camera UI, and automatically turns on when entering the app — or any app that uses the camera — so the learning curve is relatively low. Still, due to the larger sensor and more versatile zoom lens, Motorola has surfaced a number of unique camera modes, including monochrome capture, and the ability to save RAW files in addition to vaguely useful presets like «Sports» and «Night landscape». While Motorola is hedging right now, claiming these modes are still works in progress and will be more useful by the time the Moto Z and Z Force are updated in mid-September to support the Mod, I rarely noticed any improvements to my photos with these turned on.
Hasselblad also plans to release a version of its to make it easy for users to offload and edit the RAW files captured by the camera. That and Motorola’s offer of two years free full-quality backups to Google Photos, and users won’t need to worry about on-device storage.

Стоит ли покупать?
Когда все объединяется, True Zoom — это замечательная технология, которая почти оправдывает затраты в 250 долларов, но я не могу не чувствовать, что большинству людей было бы лучше потратить немного больше, чтобы получить подходящую камеру с зумом, чтобы стать лучше. Результаты.

What is the Hasselblad True Zoom?
One of the great appeals of Motorola’s (or perhaps that should be Lenovo’s) Moto Z range is the modularity offered by its Moto Mods. These smartphone attachments cleverly attach to the back of the Moto Z range through magnets, making connecting and swapping mods a breeze.
One such Moto Mod is the Hasselblad True Zoom, which, as the name implies, adds some true optical zoom capabilities and draws on the famous Hasselblad name. The Swedish camera manufacturer is known for its super-expensive medium and large format cameras. This is an aspirational Mod, then. Sadly, it doesn’t live up to the brand.
With the equivalent of 10x optical zoom made for those who want to get closer to the action without resorting to dreadful digital zoom, the Hasselblad True Zoom proves to be a useful addition. But its camera capabilities as a whole won’t rival dedicated compact cameras at a similar price and some aspects, such as video, can be inferior to the Moto Z’s standard camera.Related: Best cameras round-up
The good
By far the best part of about the Hasselblad True Zoom is the fact that it allows you to use a phone (somewhat) like a real camera!
Physical camera controls
For those of us who despise having to pinch to zoom on a mobile phone, the Hasselblad True Zoom is a welcome relief. The mod is complete with a physical shutter release button and a physical zoom switch to operate the mod’s 25-250mm-equivalent range. There’s also an on/off button to turn the camera off and on without having to first unlock the phone.
Ability to control the camera via a touchscreen
After the mod is attached, the phone’s stock camera app switches over to “Professional mode.” This mode allows for manual camera control via the phone’s touchscreen. While you don’t have true manual control over every aspect of the camera (more on that below), you can adjust certain features such as ISO, capture mode (e.g. Action, Portrait mode, etc.), and choose to shoot in RAW or JPG format.

While you can operate your phone as usual even with the mod attached, you’ll probably want to remove it occasionally. Luckily, a solid carrying case with a wrist strap is included so you can keep your mod safe when you aren’t using it.
